Moyes returns to Everton: How did the Scottish coach perform with the Toffees in his first stint?
David Moyes has returned to the helm at Everton, effective immediately, the Merseyside club announced on Saturday.
The Scotsman will succeed Sean Dyche who was sacked on the eve of the side’s FA Cup third round match against Peterborough.
“It’s great to be back! I enjoyed 11 wonderful and successful years at Everton and didn’t hesitate when I was offered the opportunity to rejoin this great club,” Moyes said after the club announced his appointment.
“I’m excited to be working with The Friedkin Group and I am looking forward to helping them rebuild the club.
“Now we need Goodison and all Evertonians to play their part in getting behind the players in this important season so we can move into our fabulous new stadium as a Premier League team.”
Moyes joined Everton for the first time in 2002 and had an 11-year stint with the Toffees. He helmed the team for a total of 518 matches.
Across competitions, he had a win percentage of 42.6.
The closest Moyes got Everton to silverware will have to be the 2008-09 FA Cup, when the side fell to Chelsea in a 1-2 defeat.
