Retro: Suriya’s film gets new Pongal poster! UK release details:
Retro starring Suriya in the lead is an upcoming Karthik Subbaraj directorial, scheduled to release on May 1, 2025 i.e. Labour day Thursday. The movie had a new poster release marking Pongal 2025 on Tuesday. The new Retro poster features Suriya alongside actors Jayaram, Karunakaran, among others.
Retro, a joint production venture of Suriya’s 2D Entertainment and Karthik Subbaraj’s Stone Bench Films will be released in the UK via Boleyn Cinemas. The Retro title teaser which was released marking Christmas last year, has cleared censor to be screened in UK theaters. However it remains unclear when the Retro title teaser will be showcased in UK cinemas.
Retro is Suriya’s maiden collaboration with writer, director Karthik Subbaraj, and the actor appears in two different looks – one with a mullet and a Fu Manchu moustache, and the other with a shorter hairdo. The film’s ensemble also has Pooja Hegde, Nandita Das, Shriya Saran (cameo), Joju George, rakash Raj, Nassar, George Maryan, among others.
Retro has Santhosh Narayanan for music, Shreyaas Krishna for cinematography, and Shafique Mohamed Ali for edits. The film comes with the tagline – ‘Love, Laughter, War’, and its post theatrical OTT rights are with the Netflix streaming platform.
