National shotgun championship: Lakshay Sheoran, Rajeshwari top trap qualification

Asian Games silver medallist Lakshay Sheoran topped trap qualification with 121 along with Olympian Prithviraj Tondaiman and Zoravar Singh Sandhu, in the 67th National shotgun championship at the Dr. Karni Singh Range, Tughlakabad, on Wednesday.

Jaswinder Singh (118), Zuhair Khan (117) and Shardul Vihan (116) were the other three to make the final. Shardul had to beat four others in a long shoot-off to clinch the last berth.

Vivaan Kapoor, Shapath Bharadwaj and Gyanchand Susheel Sharan shot 115 and missed the final by one point.

Kynan Chenai (113) and Bhowneesh Mendiratta (112) placed 17th and 19th respectively.

In women’s trap, Olympian Rajeshwari Kumari topped the field with 114, one point ahead of Neeru. Kirti Gupta (111), Sabeera Haris (111), Bhavya Trpathi (110) and Shreshtha Sisodiya (109) were the others to make the final.

Shreyasi Singh shot 108 and missed the final along with Aashima Ahlawat by one point.

Olympian Shagun Chowdhary (106), Manisha Keer (106) and Preeti Rajak (104) were some of the other prominent shooters who missed the final, which will be shot on Thursday.
