Ranji Trophy 2024-25: Rishabh Pant scores 1 run on return to Delhi against Saurashtra
Rishabh Pant scored just one run off 10 balls for Delhi in its Ranji Trophy match against Saurashtra at the Niranjan Shah Stadium Ground C in Rajkot on Thursday.
The 27-year-old wicketkeeper-batter was playing his first Ranji Trophy game since December 2017, when he scored a match total of 53 against Vidarbha.
Pant’s return to the tournament came after the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) made it compulsory for international players to participate in domestic cricket. Facing him in this match was India teammate Ravindra Jadeja, who had appeared in a Ranji Trophy game as recently as 2023.
Ahead of the match against Saurashtra, Pant declined the captaincy, allowing Ayush Badoni to continue leading the State side, which currently sits fourth in Group D.
“Rishabh’s entry has lifted the morale of all the boys even further. Personally, I have just become captain, so it is good that he can guide me. It will be a big help to me,” Badoni said on the eve of the match.
