Ranji Trophy 2024-25: Karnataka’s Smaran scores maiden double century in First-Class cricket against Punjab

Karnataka’s Smaran R scored his first double hundred in First-Class cricket during a Ranji Trophy 2024-25 match against Punjab at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore on Friday.

The 21-year-old brought up his double ton in 270 balls, a stroke-filled knock which included 25 fours and three sixes. Soon after, he was removed by Jass Inder before Tea as the batter finished the innings with a score of 203 off 277 balls.

After Karnataka bowlers bundled out Punjab for a measly 55 on Thursday, Smaran ended Day 1 of the match with an unbeaten 83.

At Tea, Karnataka leads Punjab by 365 runs as the Mayank Agarawal-skippered side sits at 420/7 after two sessions on Day 2.
