India’s captain Rohit Sharma, pacers Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh, and all-rounder Hardik Pandya were named in the ICC Men’s T20I Team of the Year 2024.

The team included as many as four Indians and one player each from England, Australia, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and Zimbabwe.

Under Rohit’s leadership, India secured its first ICC title in 11 years by winning the T20 World Cup. He scored 378 runs at a strike rate of 160.16, with a standout 92 against Australia.

Hardik Pandya played a crucial role in India’s triumph, contributing 352 runs and 16 wickets, including a match-winning 3/20 in the final.

Jasprit Bumrah was named Player of the Tournament in the T20I World Cup, taking 15 wickets in 8 matches at an average of 8.26. Bumrah was also included in the ICC Men’s Test team of the year.

Arshdeep Singh was India’s leading wicket-taker, claiming 36 scalps in 18 matches, with his best spell of 4/9 coming against the USA in the World Cup.

Australia’s top scorer Travis Head earned a spot with 539 runs at a blistering strike rate of 178.47, highlighted by his 80 against Scotland.

England’s Phil Salt was the sole representative from his team, scoring 467 runs at a strike rate of 164.43, including an unbeaten 103* against West Indies.

Former Pakistan captain Babar Azam made the squad after anchoring his team’s batting with 738 runs in 24 matches, starting the year with three consecutive fifties against New Zealand.

West Indies’ key finisher Nicholas Pooran (464 runs) and Zimbabwe’s all-rounder Sikandar Raza (573 runs, 24 wickets) were also selected, with Raza’s 133* against Gambia among the best T20I innings of the year.

Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan, who led his team to its first-ever T20 World Cup semifinal with 31 wickets at an average of 9.58, also made the list.

Sri Lanka’s Wanindu Hasaranga rounded off the squad, taking 38 wickets and scoring 179 runs, proving his all-round value.
