Velammal Nexus honours athletes and physical education teachers, announces sports scholarships

Velammal Nexus hosted a grand felicitation ceremony on Wednesday at Velammal Hall to honour 416 Velammal Nexus school athletes who have represented India and Tamil Nadu in various sports.

The event celebrated the dedication and achievements of these athletes, reinforcing Velammal’s commitment to fostering sports excellence.

Thulasi Mathi, para-badminton player (Arjuna Awardee), Manisha Ramadass, para-badminton player (Arjuna Awardee), Nithya Sre Sivan, para-badminton player (Arjuna Awardee), Indian squash player Abhay Singh (Arjuna Awardee) and Kirubakararaja, General Secretary, Tamil Nadu Paralympic Sports Association were the chief guests at the event.

In addition to the felicitation, Velammal Nexus announced sports scholarships worth ₹2.55 crores for the academic year 2025-26. Additionally, the institution will sponsor airfare expenses amounting to ₹30 lakhs for athletes representing Tamil Nadu at various national games.

As a highlight of the event, Velammal Nexus also felicitated their five best Physical Education Teachers for their exceptional contribution to sports development. These teachers were honoured with new cars, acknowledging their dedication to nurturing and mentoring young athletes.

Furthermore, in recognition of their outstanding achievements, MVM Velmohan, Correspondent, Velammal Nexus, presented a cash award of ₹3,00,000 each to the four Arjuna Awardees as a token of appreciation for their remarkable contributions to Indian sports.
