Johhny Herbert to leave role of F1 Driver Steward by mutual agreement: FIA

Experienced F1 driver steward Johhny Herbert will no longer fulfil his role, the sport’s official governing body FIA announced on Wednesday.

“It is with regret that we announce that today Johhny Herbert will no longer fulfil the position of F1 Driver Steward for the FIA,” the governing body of motorsport wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter).

The governing body announced that despite Herbert’s experience, there is a conflict of interest in his duties as an FIA steward and a media pundit.

“Johnny is widely respected and brought invaluable experience and expertise to his role. However, after discussion, it was mutually agreed that his duties as a fia steward and that of a media pundit were incompatible. We thank him for his service and wish him well in his future endeavours,” the FIA added.
