Ranji Trophy: Meghalaya loses six wickets for two runs in stunning collapse against Mumbai, sets unwanted record
Meghalaya was reduced to 2/6 during its Ranji Trophy match against defending champion Mumbai at the Sharad Pawar Cricket Academy BKC Ground on Thursday.
After Mumbai elected to field, Shardul Thakur and Mohit Avasthi wreacked havoc to pick six wickets inside the first four overs of the match. In the previous over, Thakur had taken a hat-trick, dismissing Anirudh B, Sumit Kumar and Jaskirat off consecutive deliveries.
Meghalaya’s two for the loss of six wickets is the lowest team total at the fall of the sixth wicket in the history of the Ranji Trophy. It is also the second lowest such score in all First-Class cricket – Marylebone Cricket Club’s 0/6 in 8.2 overs against Surrey at Lord’s in 1872 being the lowest ever.
