Pro Kabaddi League: U Mumba parts ways with head coach Gholamreza Mazandarani ahead of PKL 12
U Mumba announced on Friday that head coach Gholamreza Mazandarani will not continue with the team for the upcoming season.
The Mumbai-based side made it to the Pro Kabaddi League Season 11 playoffs but was eliminated by the Patna Pirates in the first eliminator.
“With immense gratitude, we announce that U Mumba and Gholamreza have mutually decided to part ways. His dedication, expertise, and passion have been invaluable to the team, guiding U Mumba back to the playoffs. His efforts and contributions will always be remembered,“ the team stated on its social media platform.
“Gholamreza will forever remain a part of the U Mumba family, and we wish him nothing but success in the next chapter of his career. Thank you for everything, coach—you’ll always have a home with us!”
The “Lion of Iran” replaced Anil Chaprana in the backroom ahead of the 10th season of the tournament. This wasn’t Mazandarani’s first stint with the Mumbai outfit. He had also held the same role in 2018, when the team finished second on the Zone A points table to qualify for the playoffs.
However, the Iranian’s services were acquired by the Telugu Titans in subsequent seasons. Under his tutelage, the Titans finished 11th, managing just six victories from 22 matches.
