STR 48 becomes STR 50: Silambarasan TR debuts as producer!
Silambarasan TR’s film with director Desingh Periasamy was first announced in March 2023, and marking actor’s 41st birthday in 2024, and the movie was revealed as a big budget historical thriller with STR playing dual roles. Two years since, STR 48 has now become STR 50 (tentative title), and instead of Kamal Haasan’s Raaj Kamal Films International, Silambarasan TR himself will be funding the movie in his debut as a producer.
Marking his 42nd birthday on February 3, 2025, Silambarasan TR took to his official X handle to write, “Thanks to God! I’m excited to share that I’m stepping into a new journey as a producer with @Atman_cinearts. There’s no better way to begin this, than with my 50th film, a dream project for both me and @desingh_dp. We are pouring our hearts into this! Excited for this new venture and truly hoping for all your love and support as always! I am not with you! #STR50″
A new STR 50 poster was also shared which featured a younger version of the historical Silambarasan TR character. One of Silambarasan TR’s dual roles in STR 50 is that of a transgender villain. Similar to the Jayam Ravi starrer Aadhi Bhagavan (2013), and the Vikram starrer Iru Mugan (2016), STR 50 will have Silambarasan TR playing both the good protagonist and an effeminate/trans villain.
The technical crew of STR 50 includes Yuvan Shankar Raja for music, Manoj Paramahansa for cinematography, SS Murthi for production design, Praveen Antony for edits, Kevin Kumar for action, Niranjani Ahathiyan for costume design, Phantom FC for VFX, and ADFX Studio for Publicity design.
