Varun Chakaravarthy trains in the nets in Nagpur ahead of India vs England ODIs
Varun Chakaravarthy was spotted in the nets as the Indian team trained at the VCA Stadium on Tuesday afternoon, ahead of its series-opening ODI against England.
Though not officially part of India’s ODI squad yet, Varun — fresh from a successful T20I series against England, where he claimed 14 wickets in five matches — had an extended session, suggesting he is in contention for the 50-over format.
With the Champions Trophy starting on February 19 and uncertainty surrounding Jasprit Bumrah’s fitness, speculation is rife over Varun’s selection. With changes allowed until February 12, his presence during training has fuelled further interest. Sources say the selectors are monitoring Varun closely — with Kuldeep Yadav returning from injury and Bumrah awaiting scans — as he could be crucial in Dubai, where Rohit Sharma’s men will play all their matches in the Champions Trophy.
