ICC Men’s T20I rankings: Abhishek Sharma, Tilak Varma enter top three after England series; Varun Chakaravarthy joint-second
Indian duo Abhishek Sharma and Tilak Varma entered the top three of the men’s T20I batter rankings following their performances in the home series against England.
In-form spinner Varun Chakaravarthy, who was recently included in the Indian squad for the upcoming ODI series against England, also moved up among the bowlers in the shortest format.
Abhishek surged an impressive 38 places to be placed second – behind Australia’s Travis Head – after his record-breaking century during the fifth T20I match against England in Mumbai. Compatriot Tilak is in third place.
India skipper Suryakumar Yadav is fifth, while teammates Hardik Pandya (up five places to joint 51st) and Shivam Dube (up 38 spots to 58th) also made significant progress in the rankings.
Varun’s 14 wickets against England helped the spinner climb three places to share second spot in the rankings with England’s Adil Rashid. Teammate Ravi Bishnoi also moved up the ladder and now sits in sixth place.
