Good Bad Ugly AK Vs Wok Of Love Doo Chil-sung: A story parallel

Good Bad Ugly AK Vs Wok Of Love Doo Chil-sung: A story parallel

Good Bad Ugly starring Ajith Kumar in the lead is a Tamil language gangster action comedy that is all set to release in theaters on April 10, 2025. Good Bad Ugly teaser which released on February 28, gave us the first full glimpse of Ajith Kumar’s gangster character, AK who was shown to have a penchant for gangs, guns, tattoos, and gums (the chewing kind).

Now, a Good Bad Ugly synopsis reveal is doing the rounds, which suggests that Good Bad Ugly tells the story of a fearless don, who tries to change his ruthless ways and violent life to live peacefully with his family in the society. However, his dark past and brutal actions continue to follow him. How ‘AK’ faces them head-on and overcomes them is apparently told through a tale of vengeance, loyalty, and the cost of power in Good Bad Ugly

For those well versed in Korean dramas, AK’s character design and storyline in Good Bad Ugly is a stark reminder of Doo Chil-sung—played by actor Jang Hyuk—in the 2018 television series, Wok of Love. In the K-drama, the tattoo-loving, suspender-wearing, gum-chewing* Doo Chil-sung is a 40 year old loan shark gangster, who upon release from prison ends up running a failing restaurant with his loyal gang members.

Doo Chil-sung, an intimidating don, fights his dark past including his abandonment by his biological mother, to find redemption and peace, but vendetta and violence keep testing his resolve. How Doo Chil-sung and his gangster buddies turn their life around, is told through a tale of vengeance, loyalty, and the cost of power in Wok Of Love.

Interestingly, while Wok of Love is about how Doo Chil-sung turns around the business of a failing Chinese restaurant by employing a Chef, Good Bad Ugly teaser showcased Ajith vowing to show his proficiency in front of a large meals carrier.

Doo Chil-Sung’s black bean noodles restaurant in the K-drama is uniquely walled with real money, while bills of money was shown exploding in an establishment in Good Bad Ugly teaser.  Whether or not there are any actual parallels between the Korean drama, and the Tamil movie remains to be seen.

Wok of Love is currently streaming on Netflix with nineteen 1-hour episodes. Good Bad Ugly produced by Mythri Movie Makers is currently gearing up for the release of its first single, composed by GV Prakash Kumar. The Tamil movie has Trisha playing female lead.
