The National Football League (NFL) Super Bowl, is undoubtedly one of the biggest events amongst USA sports with a huge global audience and the latest edition is set to take place this Sunday (Monday early morning according to IST).

In the following article, Sportstar tells you everything you need to know about the upcoming 59th Super Bowl.

The Kansas City Chiefs will play the Philadelphia Eagles in the 59th Super Bowl.

It is the second time in three years that the Chiefs will clash against the Eagles in the final game of the NFL season. The Chiefs are chasing a third consecutive Super Bowl crown while the Eagles are chasing a second NFL title overall.

There are 14 teams in the NFL playoffs, seven from each conference.

The four division champions from the National Football Conference (NFC) and the four from the American Football Conference (AFC) along with six wild-card teams clashed in an elimination tournament. The wild-card teams chosen were the three non-division winners with the best record in each conference.

The final four teams competed in the AFC and NFC, the winners of which qualified for the Super Bowl.

Kansas qualified with a 32-29 win against the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Championship Game while Philadelphia qualified for the summit clash after beating the Washington Commanders 55-23.

The Super Bowl will start at 5AM Monday, February 10 in India (Sunday, February 9, 5:30pm in New Orleans [23:30 GMT]).

The championship game will be hosted at Caesars Superdome, home to the New Orleans Saints with a capacity of 83,000 spectators.

This marks the 11th time New Orleans has hosted the event.

In India, the Super Bowl will be live telecast on the Star Sports Network (Star Sports 1 and Select 2 HD and SD). The championship game will also be live-streamed on the Disney+Hotstar app and website.

The half-time show is a trademark of the Super Bowl. It is a 12 to 15-minute musical show and one of the most important slots on the USA music calendar.

This time, Grammy-winning artist Kendrick Lamar will headline the half-time show, becoming the first solo rapper to do so. He also performed in 2022 along with musical stalwarts such as Dr Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem and Mary J Blige.

Taylor Swift, another musical heavyweight, is not scheduled to perform during the half-time show but will be in attendance to cheer her partner, Travis Kelce, who will be playing for the Kansas Chiefs.

In a first for a sitting USA President, Donald Trump will be among the many VVIPs at the Caesars Superdome to watch the Super Bowl.

The Super Bowl winners are awarded the Vince Lombardi Trophy each year. The trophy is named in honour of the NFL Hall of Fame coach, who led the Green Bay Packers to victories in the first two Super Bowl games.
