Who will perform at the Super Bowl 2025 halftime show?

The 59th Super Bowl will see the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles battle it out for the Vincent Lombardi Trophy at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans on Sunday (Monday, according to IST).

The halftime show is a trademark of the Superbowl and has been a major part of the NFL event. It is also the most-watched musical performance of the year in the USA.

Kendrick Lamar will perform at the 2025 halftime show. Lamar, a hip-hop artist, has won 22 Grammy awards in his career, including five this year for his song “Not Like Us“ which bagged the Song of the Year and Record of the Year at the prestigious awards ceremony.

Lamar will make history as the first solo artist to headline the halftime show at the Super Bowl. The 37-year-old also performed at Super Bowl 2022 alongside Dr Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, and Mary J Blige.

Born in Compton, California, which has churned out legendary rappers over the years, Lamar started rapping at school. He released his debut studio album, Section.80, in 2011, which sold 130,000 copies in the USA over the next three years. The rapper has released five more studio albums, selling more than 17.9 million album-equivalent units worldwide. He also has achieved five number-one singles in the US.

“Storytelling. I think I’ve always been very open about storytelling through all my catalogue and my history of music. And I’ve always had a passion about bringing that on whatever stage I’m on,” Lamar said about his Super Bowl performance at a music conference hosted by Apple Music.

Singer-songwriter SZA will join Lamar as a special guest, and Hamish Hamilton, who has directed the halftime show since 2010, will direct the event.
