Sri Lanka and Australia will lock horns in a two-match One-Day International series, starting in Colombo on Wednesday. The series will serve as final preparation for Australia ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, which begins later this month in Pakistan.

Australia, which comprehensively won the Test series 2-0 and has qualified for the World Test Championship (WTC) final, will be without regular skipper Pat Cummins, who is also set to miss the Champions Trophy due to injury. In Cummins’ absence, Australia will be led by Steve Smith, who also captained the side in the Tests during the ongoing tour.

The Aussies will also be without the services of Josh Hazlewood and Mitchell Marsh, who are both injured. Marcus Stoinis announced his shock retirement from the format last week and will also not feature in the series. Meanwhile, Sri Lanka, which failed to qualify for the upcoming eight-team Champions Trophy, will be captained by Charith Asalanka in the two ODIs.

The first ODI between Sri Lanka and Australia will be held on Wednesday, February 12.
