Pahalgam Terror Attack: Kamal Haasan, Vijay, Sarathkumar, Radikaa express condemnation

Twenty-six people were killed after terrorists opened fire at Baisaran, a popular tourist spot near the resort town of Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir, India, at around 3 PM on April 22, 2025. Often referred to as the ‘mini Switzerland; for its meadows and panoramic views, Baisaran is six kilometres away from Pahalgam.

Tourists were enjoying pony rides, picnics, or relaxing when they were caught completely off guard by terrorists of The Resistance Front (TRF), a proxy of the banned Pakistan-based terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). According to survivors, the attackers asked the victims for their names before opening fire.

TRF began as an online entity in the aftermath of the abrogation of Article 370 and revocation of special status to J&K in August 2019. In January 2023, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) had declared the TRF a ‘terrorist organization’ under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act for propaganda, recruitment of terrorists, infiltration, and smuggling of weapons and narcotics from Pakistan into the Kashmir valley.

Tamil film celebrities turned politicians—Kamal Haasan, Vijay, Sarathkumar, actors Radikaa Sarathkumar, Suriya, filmmaker Karthik Subbaraj, and cinematographer Manoj Paramahansa have taken to X since the deadly incident, to condemn the cowardly act of these targeted terror attacks.

Popular Tamil film distributor, and Tamil Nadu’s Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin also joined the nation in expressing his condemnation.
