Heera’s Controversial Remarks on Ajith-Shalini Go Viral on Padma Awards Day

Heera’s Controversial Remarks on Ajith-Shalini Go Viral on Padma Awards Day

Tamil star actor Ajith, and wife Shalini who is a former actress herself, is a beloved couple in the Tamil film industry, who just last Thursday celebrated 25 years of marriage. The Ajith-Shalini couple, parents to two children—a 17 year old daughter, and a 10 year old son—are often talked about for being close-knit, whenever they are in the public eye.

Earlier today, Ajith, Shalini, and their two children Anoushka and Aadvik, were spotted leaving to New Delhi from the Chennai airport to receive Ajith’s Padma Bhushan award from Indian President Droupadi Murmu, at the Rashtrapati Bhavan. At this time, an archived January 2025 blogpost from actress Heera, who was in a relationship with Ajith Kumar 27 years ago, has stirred up controversy with maligning remarks about both Ajith and wife Shalini.

An infamous quote from Ajith about the break-up with Heera, with whom he was in a relationship from 1996 to 1998 was,We lived together, I really liked her, but now everything has changed; she is not the same person anymore. In fact, she is a drug addict”. Post this break-up, Ajith met Shalini on the sets of Amarkalam in 1999, and married her in the year 2000.

27 years later, Heera Rajagopal claimed in a now archived January, 2025 blogpost that there is no truth to the ‘drug addict’ paint given by actor Ajith to her reputation. Heera also came for Ajith-Shalini’s relationship with a footnote statement that read,

These excerpts are now being shared on social media platforms like X, with a link to the archived blogpost of Heera Rajagopal’s. Ajith fans naturally are miffed, and see this as an attempt at maligning Ajith Kumar’s Padma Bhushan honour, since the blogpost is 3 months old, speaks of a break-up from 27 years ago, and back-handedly attacks a happy family of four.

Heera’s blogpost which the yester-year actress tags as a ‘two-page open letter’, is addressed to the World Health Organization’s Director General, and the Prime Minister of Singapore. Heera doesn’t name Ajith or Shalini in her writing, only accuses ‘an actor’ of ‘breaking-up with her with no warning’, ‘bribing the media’, ‘maligning her reputation as a drug addict and cheater’, and ‘pushing her to suicide’ 25 years ago.

Heera Rajagopal also accuses Ajith Kumar of ‘faking’ his spine surgeries to ‘generate sympathy’, and ‘gain the upper hand on his film opponent’, and states that her suspicions are ‘backed by medical experts’.
