Copa del Rey semifinal draw: Barcelona to face Atletico, Real Madrid clashes against Sociedad

Barcelona was pitted against Atletico Madrid, while its city rival Real Madrid will face Sociedad in the Copa del Rey semifinals after the draw took place at the Spanish Football Federation headquarters on Wednesday.

Record-time champion Barcelona (31) last won the Copa del Rey in 2021, while Atletico (10-time winner) last won the prestigious tournament in 2013, when it defeated rival Real Madrid in the final.

Barca will host Diego Simeone’s side in the first leg before travelling to the Metropolitano stadium.

Carlo Ancelotti’s Real Madrid (20-time winners) last won a Copa del Rey title in 2023, beating Osasuna in the final, while Sociedad (two-time winner) last won it in 2020 after beating rival Athletic Bilbao in the final.

Real Madrid will visit San Sebastian in the first leg before hosting Sociedad at the Santiago Bernabeu in the second.

It is the first time since 2014 that Spain’s big three teams have reached the final four.

The first leg of the Copa del Rey semifinals will be held on Feb. 25-26, while the second leg will take place on April 1-2. The final will take place on April 26 at the Estadio La Cartuja in Sevilla.
