Indian sports wrap, February 15: Jeev off to fast start with 68 in Marbella Legends event in Spain
India’s Jeev Milkha Singh got off to a fine start on the 2025 Legends Tour season with a superb 4-under 68 in the first round of the Staysure Marabella Legends event in Marbella, Spain.
Jeev was lying tied 12th and his round included a superb eagle on the front nine and a hat-trick of birdies on the back.
Overall, he had an eagle, four birdies and two bogeys.
For Jeev it was his second Seniors event this year as he finished tied 28th at the Trophy Hassan II, an event on the Champions Tour PGA.
Jeev, who was 26th on the Legends Tour rankings last year, started on the tenth with a bogey. He rallied with three birdies in a row from the 14th, but dropped another shot on the 18tth.
On his second nine, he landed an eagle on Par-5 fifth and added a birdie on the eighth for a 68 while playing with Scott Hend, a former colleague from both DP World Tour and Asian Tour.
There are 11 former Ryder Cup players on the field. Among them, four-time European team member Jimenez and Legends Tour debutant Stephen Gallacher signed for rounds of 69 to sit in tied 16th.

Aditi Ashok was the lone Indian to make the cut after she carded an even-par 72 in the penultimate round of the PIF Saudi Ladies International held at Riyadh Golf Club.
She shot an even par 72 to be 3-under for 36 holes. At T-33, she was among the top 60 and ties who qualified for the final round.
Among the other Indians Pranavi Urs (70-73) was 1-under but missed the cut which fell at 2-under 142, Diksha Dagar (75-69) also exited as did Tvesa Malik (73-73).

Laqshya Tripathi of Maharashtra and Aaradhana tehlan of Haryana won the boys and girls singles titles respectively in the 19th Ramesh Desai National under-12 tennis championship at the GA Ranade Centre in Mumbai on Saturday.
Fourh seed Laqshya beat third seed Nayan Khatri for the boys title, while top seed Aaradhana asserted her strong game against Trisha Bhosale.

Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan and Vijay Sundar Prashanth were beaten 6-3, 7-6(5) by Ivan Liutarevich and Luca Sanchez in the doubles semifinals of the $200,000 Challenger tennis tournament in Manama, Bahrain, on Saturday.

The National Basketball Association (NBA) announced an expansion of its existing content partnership with YouTube that will see NBA games and marquee events live-streamed to fans in India on the NBA’s global YouTube channel through the remainder of the 2024-25 season.
Live coverage will include weekly regular-season games, NBA All-Star 2025, a selection of NBA Playoff games, and the 2025 NBA Finals presented by YouTube TV.

Delhi Dribblers beat Mumbai Titans 88-84 after leading 59-34 at halftime in the INBL Pro basketball league at the Thyagaraj Indoor Stadium on Saturday.
It was the third victory in six matches for the Delhi team, which was well served by Lachlan Barker, Daniel Poelsma and James Montgomery.
Mumbai Titans, which had won the match against Gujarat Stallions on Friday, scored 50 points in the second half, as against 29 by Delhi, but could not bridge the narrow gap in the end.

The Indian U20 women’s team coach Joakim Alexandersson, on Saturday, named a 23-member squad for the Pink Ladies U20 Youth Cup, a friendly tournament to be held in Manavgat, Turkiye, from February 19 to 25.
The India U20 women had been training in The Sports School in Bengaluru in preparation for the SAFF U20 Women’s Championship and the AFC U20 Asian Cup Qualifiers to be held in July-August 2025. The squad travelling to Turkiye comprises of players who had been camping in Bengaluru since December as well as others who joined the camp after the conclusion of Round 6 of the Indian Women’s League on February 7.
