Kerr with her third over. Niki tries to slash it towards backward point but the ball almost carries to a fielder. Quick single from the batters but the umpire has gone upstairs. Thankfully for the Capitals, Capsey has made her crease. Great use of her feet as the young Niki plays it straight towards long off for a FOUR!
Matthews with her second over. Capsey comes down the track and misses. The ball hits her pads but seems to going down leg. Just five off the over. Anybody’s game now.
Sciver-Brunt with her third over. FOUR! Capsey pushes it towards the covers and beats the fielders over at mid off to find the boundary!
Kerr with her second over. Niki almost plays the ball onto the stumps courtesy an inside edge, but follows it up with a FOUR on the off side!
Sciver-Brunt comes into the attack for her second over. Back-to-back FOURS by Sutherland! Capsey too tries to find the boundary but it falls just short of the fielder at the cow corner. Just a single there. OUT! Sutherland is beaten by a ball that stays low and smashes into the stumps!

MI fielders left as spectators as Shafali clears the ropes over at deep square leg! OUT! She steps out and pulls a shorter ball. It gets the middle of her bat and finds the fielder over at mid on in Amanjot Kaur.

If Ismail was containing Lanning well, she gets smacked for a FOUR down the ground by Shafali! CLOSE! Shafali tries to pull a shorter ball but gets a top edge. However, the ball falls short of any Mumbai Indians fielder. Moreover, Ismail bowls a No ball. Shafali slashes a short ball but fails to get distance. Unlucky there! Lanning drives but gets an edge as the ball races past Matthews at first slip for a FOUR!
Natalie Sciver-Brunt brought into the attack. She thinks she has trapped Lanning lbw off her first ball, but the umpire doesn’t say anything. Finally! Lanning cuts it and finds the boundary at backward point for a FOUR! After three dot balls, Lanning ends the over with a FOUR with a shot across towards deep backward square leg.
Ismail back with the ball. And she continues with the same vein of bowling! Lanning misses another shot. Three consecutive dot balls. It’s a tale of two different ends. One with blistering shots from Shafali, the other with a cautious Lanning. ALMOST! Shafali almost plays the ball onto the stumps but survives.
Saika Ishaque with her first over. Shafali pushes it towards the covers but Sajana fields well. And next ball, Shafali swings big and scores a SIX off just her second ball! Great use of the feet as Shafali sends it down the ground for a FOUR this time! And she can’t be stopped! Shafali makes space for herself and lobs it over the cover fielders for another FOUR! And another one! She cuts it towards point for another boundary! Three fielders chase the ball but Shafali hits the fourth consecutive FOUR!

Lanning tries to drive but misses once again. She connects the ball as she pushes it towards third man, but great piece of fielding from the fielder out in the deep to save two runs. CLOSE! Lanning drives and gets a thick edge, but the ball falls short of Hayley Matthews at the first slip. Beautiful bowling from the South African pacer as Lanning misses once again. A dot to end the over. Two runs off it.

Capsey back for her second, hoping to have a more economical one after she was smacked in her first. Amanjot joins in on the fun as she sends it over the cover fielders for a FOUR! But that’s the last time she’ll find the boundary! She dances down the ground but Capsey’s full length ball castles the stumps.

The bowler fails to collect the ball, but it grazes her fingers and fortuitously gets the stumps. Kerr is out of her crease and will have to walk back.

Arundhati back for her third over. Sciver-Brunt hits it towards cover and Shafali fails to stop the ball inside the circle. With that FOUR, she brings up her half-century! Next ball, she smacks it across and scores another FOUR!
Radha Yadav with the ball. Amelia Kerr survives a scare after Radha shouts for an lbw. Next ball, the Kiwi player smacks the India international for a FOUR down the ground. No ball from Radha, and Kerr goes for the maximum, but misses. Bryce stumps her, but it won’t be counted.
Sutherland replaces Arundhati. FOUR! Harmanpreet cuts it between backward point and short third for a boundary! And next ball, the MI skipper lifts it over the short third fielder for another FOUR! Classy batting! Harmanpreet smacks it over mid-wicket for a SIX! She swings again and the ball finds its way to the boundary for a FOUR! OUT! Harmanpreet tries to go over at deep backward point once again but the India U-19 skipper Niki Prasad is there to send the India senior skipper back to the dugout!

Arundhati back for her second over. Too wide of the off stump as Sciver-Brunt pushes it towards point for a single. Beautifully times by the English batter to lift it up and send the ball straight down the ground for a FOUR! Harmanpreet goes big and sends the ball over cow corner for a SIX!
Radha Yadav with her first over. She stumbles on her first ball and takes a second go. And Sciver-Brunt welcomes the left-arm spinner with a blistering FOUR towards cow corner. Jemimah Rodrigues only gets a hand to it and she misfields. Harmanpreet slashes the ball over the point fielders for a FOUR! And to top it off, Radha bowls a No ball. And Harmanpreet swings big to send the ball over deep extra cover for a SIX!
Annabel Sutherland replaces Shikha Pandey. Couple of dots to start with. Sciver-Brunt hits it across for a single. What a shot! She slightly makes room for herself and pulls a shorter ball to cow corner for a FOUR!
Minnu Mani brought into the attack. Both batters seem to be attacking square of the wicket, pulling across and trying to find the boundary. Deft! Sciver-Brunt lightly guides the ball fine with a reverse-sweep and gets a FOUR! End of PowerPlay.
Shikha back for her third over. OUT! Good length ball, slightly coming into the batter. Yastika swings big and gets just air as the ball wrecks the stumps!

Harmanpreet Kaur at the crease. First ball, the skipper tries to slash it but misses. Harmanpreet pulls a short ball towards deep square leg but a fielder in the deep does well to save three runs. Another single to end the over.
Arundhati Reddy replaces Capsey. First ball and the youngster bowls to the stumps and concedes a single. Bowling around the wicket to the left-hander, Arundhati bowls a wide. Shout for an lbw as Sciver-Brunt misses the ball. Looks to going down leg stump. WHAT A THROW! Minnu Mani, after that overthrow sometime back, gets the stumps with a bullet of a throw. However, Yastika made it in the crease on time as the batter stays on. Scooped up! Sciver-Brunt uses the fact that the ‘keeper has come to the stumps and scoops it over Bryce’s head for a FOUR! She goes again the next ball, but doesn’t execute it well. Dot to end the over.

Next ball, Yastika times it well through the covers for another FOUR! Sciver-Brunt plays it late and the ball comes off the edge of her bat to race to fine third man for a FOUR. No slip this time. Shafali Verma fails to stop the ball at mid off as the ball races to the ropes for another FOUR! Expensive over this.

“As we saw last night, pretty good wicket,” says Meg Lanning. “Taking wickets is important,” she says. Niki Prasad and Sarah Bryce make their debuts.
“I’d definitely bowled first. Ball was coming well to the bat, and that’s a positive thing to take,” Harmanpreet Kaur says. Sanskriti Gupta to debut for MI.
Anjum Chopra takes us through the pitch, joined my Mithali Raj.
“I think yesterday we saw little bit of moisture in the first few overs. I don’t see any wear or tear in the wicket. Good surface to bat,” Mithali says.
“An important factor is dew which influences last night’s match.”
“I don’t really think the spinners will get any help from the wicket unless they bowl tighter lines.”

It’s a repeat of the 2023 WPL final as Mumbai Indians takes on Delhi Capitals. And if yesterday’s match between RCB and GG is anything to go by, runs are going to flow at the Kotambi Stadium!
