Deepti bowling out. Dottin swings and misses, and the ball just misses the stump! Confusion between the batters that could have been costly but Dottin makes her ground on time. A single to end the over.
Ecclestone bowling out. Close! Harleen tries to cut it fine but misses! Next ball, she drives it forward and finds the boundary for a FOUR! The long off fielder couldn’t make the dive in time. Harleen keeps the strike with a single.
McGrath with her third over. Dottin does it so effortlessly, doesn’t she? Smacks it towards point for a fizzing FOUR! Misfield! Dottin’s shot races to the boundary for another FOUR!
Deandra Dottin the newest batter. Alana King with the ball. AND SMACK! Dottin sends King over deep mid-wicket for a massive SIX! Dottin tries to hit big once again but gets only one single.
McGrath comes in for Deepti with the ball. HUGE WICKET! Gardner goes out cheaply as she holes out to the short fine leg fielder in Kiran Navgire. Will this be the turning point?

Another full toss and GARDNER SENDS IT OVER THE ROPES TO BRING UP HER HALF-CENTURY. Harleen joins in the big-hitting as she dances down the crease and sends it down the ground for a FOUR!
Deepti with her second over. And Gardner just can’t stop sending those full toss deliveries to the boundary! Another FOUR! Review taken by Deepti as she thinks Harleen has been trapped lbw. And Harleen stays on as the impact of the ball is outside off stump. A single to end the over.
Ecclestone with her third over. Gardner tries to clear the ropes over mid wicket but it just falls short of Alana King. Next ball, and OUT! Wolvaardt fails to make contact with the ball as it gets the stumps between the bat and the pads.

Debutant Kranti Goud with her first over. FOUR! A full toss and Gardner sends it over the mid on fielder to the boundary. Add another FOUR to that! Gardner hits it towards cow corner.
Another spinner from the other end. It’s Sophie Ecclestone with her first over of this WPL. First ball, and a huge shout by the English bowler as she gets Wolvaardt’s pads. But perhaps, the impact was outside leg. OUT! Dayalan Hemalatha is sent back for a duck! She plays it onto her off stump.

Grace Harris with the ball for UP Warriorz. Laura Wolvaardt and Beth Mooney at the crease. First ball, miss. Second ball, almost holes out to the mid off fielder. Wolvaardt living dangerously. OUT! Harris bowls a full toss and the batter gets the toe edge of the bat as she holes out to the mid on fielder.

Gardner with the last over. Saima gets a FOUR with a slice towards third man! Saima has appealed for a wide, and she wins that decision. Innovative from Saima! She reverse sweeps and sends it fine for a FOUR! WHAT WAS THAT, LAURA WOLVAARDT! The South Africa skipper drops a catch over at long on as the ball gets a deflection off her hands and goes for a FOUR! A run out on the last ball but great effort from Saima and King to get UP Warriorz cross the 140-run mark.
Dottin bowling out. Great stuff from the Windies pacer, making it difficult for the batters to even take a single. SIX! King smashes it over deep mid-wicket with a flat shot and clears the ropes. And King finds the gap and ends the over with a FOUR on the off side!
Kashvee bowling out. BOWLED! The Indian pacer gets Ecclestone as the ball keeps low and clatters the leg stump.

One of the stars of the Women’s Ashes, Alana King comes out in the middle. And she hits her compatriot Gardner for a FOUR! This time, it’s Shweta who cuts it between two fielders on the off side for a FOUR! But that’s the last we see from the Indian youngster on the night with the bat as Gardner forces Shweta to play the ball onto the stumps courtesy a thick inside edge.

Kashvee comes in for Tanuja. Great shot from Deepti as she flicks it towards the cow corner and finds the gap between two fielders to hit a FOUR!
Priya continues. First two balls, singles. A dot to follow, and then the ball finds itself towards deep backward square leg which allows the batters to take a two. The batters not being able to middle the ball properly. A single to end the over.

McGrath fails to judge a ball that keeps low and it looks like Priya gets her batter lbw. The umpire thinks so, but McGrath goes upstairs. Review shows that the impact is with the pads first and McGrath, with a sigh, walks back.

Dottin with her second over. Uma slashes wide and an edge takes the ball high up but it falls in no man’s land. FOUR! Deepti puts all her might into that shot towards deep mid-wicket as the fielder inside the circle fails to stop it. With that, a 50-run partnership between Deepti and Uma is notched up. OUT! Dottin gets GG another breakthrough as Uma pulls a shorter ball but holes out to the mid-on fielder. An ecstatic Priya Mishra celebrates the catch.

Priya Mishra replaces Tanuja. Uma swings it towards mid on and the fielding dives to her left but can’t get to it. FOUR from it! Uma makes space and cuts it to point for another FOUR. Big shout from Beth Mooney from behind the stumps, suggesting she caught out Uma because of an edge. Gardner takes a review. No bat involved and Uma stays on.
Deepti hits Gardner for another FOUR, and another sweep! The fielder in the deep can’t do anything there. The UPW skipper with a backfoot punch finds another FOUR on the off side! Couple of dots to end the over. A timeout taken.
Tanuja Kanwer replaces Sayali. Just a few singles off the over. Dottin slightly stumbles to save Deepti’s sweep towards deep square leg, but the West Indies player saves three runs.
Kashvee continues. First ball, a slower full toss but Uma plays it cautiously. Just a couple of runs, the pacer continues a fine spell.
Sayali with her second over. Uma tries to push it towards covers but gets an inside edge. The ball almost castles the stumps but Uma stays on. And she follows it up with a slog over mid-wicket for a FOUR! Another FOUR! Bowled a bit wide on the off side as Uma smacks it straight down the ground.
Kashvee Gautam brought into the attack. A couple of runs so far through singles, and a wide. A bit of movement from Kashvee, moving into the right-hander. Good over from the pacer, just three runs off it.
Wicketkeeper batter Uma Chetry has come out in the middle. Skipper Ashleigh Gardner gives herself the ball to bowl her first over. OUT! Vrinda Dinesh, after a couple of dot balls, tries to slog sweep but completely misses. The ball castles the stumps!

Deandra Dottin’s first over, and she is pulled over short fine leg by Vrinda for a FOUR! She follows it up with a quick single. Lucky there! Dottin sends a shorter ball this time to Kiran, who pulls. However, the batter gets an edge which sends it over the jumping wicketkeeper for a FOUR! A wide to follow. What looked like a slower ball, Kiran hits it down the ground but for a two. Next ball, a fuller length delivery and Dottin gets Kiran lbw! Umpire raises his finger! But the review has been taken. And Kiran has to walk back! Dottin gives the host its first breakthrough! The impact was umpire’s call and it works in GG’s favour.

A single to follow, Vrinda on strike. Quick single as Vrinda pushes it to the point fielders. Next ball, Kiran steps down the crease and slashes, and misses. The ball passes quite close to the leg stump. FOUR! Kiran pushes it past the extra cover fielder and finds the boundary to end the over.

Coming off a stiff six-wicket loss to Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Gujarat Giants will hope to have better control of the game when it faces UP Warriorz, which is yet to start its campaign.
