Mohammed Azharuddeen becomes first Kerala batter to score hundred in Ranji Trophy semifinal

Mohammed Azharuddeen became the first Kerala batter to score a hundred in a Ranji Trophy semifinal, after he crossed the three-figure mark against Gujarat in Ahmedabad on Tuesday.

This is also Azharuddeen’s second First-Class hundred, which helped Kerala push onto a solid score in the first-innings of the last-four clash.

The wicket-keeper batter got to his century with a single against spinner Siddharth Desai, prompting applause from the Kerala dugout.

Azharuddeen came into bat on the first day with his team struggling at 157 for four. He then put on a steady stand with his captain Sachin Baby to get their side to 206 for four at the end of the opening day.

On Tuesday, Azharuddeen marched on despite losing his skipper early in the day. He found an able ally in the in-form Salman Nizar as Kerala pushed past 300 in its second ever Ranji semifinal.
