BAN vs NZ highlights, Champions Trophy 2025: New Zealand beats Bangladesh by five wickets
Taskin. Yorker and the ball goes in the air and short cover fielder catches it. Bangladesh appeal that the ball had hit the Phillips’ toe but replays suggest it bounced off the pitch first. Not out. Short ball and Phillips pulls it towards midwicket for four. Scores are level. Bracewell scores the winning runs. New Zealand wins by five wickets.
Rana is back. Phillips ends the over with a four past point. Five off the over.
Rishad. SIX! Phillips goes over the bowler’s head and over the fence. Nine runs came in that over.
Rahman. Latham takes a quick single. A direct hit and Latham might be gone. OUT! He’s on the line that means he has to walk back after scoring 55.
Rahman. Just three runs came in that over.
Rishad. OUT! Ravindra is gone. Goes for a slog but doesn’t get enough power and is caught at deep midwicket. He goes for 112.
Glenn Phillips is off the mark with a single. Latham gets a single and reaches his fifty.
Ravindra is finding boundaries regularly. Latham too has been keen to sweep the spinners. Bangladesh bowlers don’t have any answers.
New Zealand is doing it pretty easily. 14 runs more added to the total in last two overs with ease.
Rana. Full on the pads and Latham places it towards fine leg for four. Century stand between the two. Ravindra takes a single and gets to his hundred off 95 balls. Brilliant knock.
Miraz. Four! Ravindra slog sweeps over midwicket. Ravindra finishes the over on 99 runs.
Rahman. Good over, just four runs off it.
Rishad. Ravindra cuts for four and enters his 90s. Nine runs came in that over.
New Zealand is cruising its way to the target. Pitch isn’t difficult to bat and Ravindra is looking great rhythm to make any mistake.
Najmul Hossain Shanto to bowl off-break. SIX! Rachin pummels this short delivery over the mid wicket fence. FOUR on the next! This one is short and wide outside off and Rachin cuts this through covers. 12 come off this over.
FOUR more for Rachin! The top spinner from Rishad bounces high, takes his edge and beats the short third fielder. Seven runs from it.
Mehidy to Rachin, FOUR! Flicks this through mid wicket. Four byes on the final delivery, Rachin tries to sweep this wide delivery but neither he nor the keeper can reach this delivery turning away. 10 runs from the over.
Rishad Hossain into the attack. Three singles to start to his spell.
Mehidy again. CHANCE! Rachin looks for a slog sweep but loses his footing. This ends up fluffing the shot in the air, but thankfully for NZ, it lands short of deep midwicket. Three singles from this.
Mehidy forcing the Kiwi batters to rely on single. Rachin and Latham happy to do so too. Four from his over while two come from the next from Taskin.
FOUR for Rachin! He whacks this good-length ball straight back from Taskin. That’s also the fifty for him. A single to close the over to mid wicket.
Four singles in this over from Mehidy. Two runs in the previous one from Nahid.
FOUR for Latham! Mustafizur strays on the pads and Latham clips it past mid on. Rachin punches through point for two runs. CHANCE! Rachin tries to sweep the final delivery but an edge takes the ball to the left of the keeper, but over his head for two runs.
Rana is back. Short ball, Ravindra pulls, and it goes just over short midwicket. Four singles in that over.
Rahman. OUT! Conway is cleaned up. Off cutter again and he gets an inside edge onto the stumps. Conway scored 30 off 45 balls.
Tom Latham in at five. He’s off the mark with a single. Three runs in that over.
Miraz. Ravindra steals a quick single. A better throw might have been close. Five runs off the over.
Rahman. Off cutter and Conway almost chops onto the stumps! Fifty-run partnership between the two.
Miraz. Ravindra and Conway continue to rotate the strike and get seven runs from the over.
Rahman. Ravindra tries to steal a quick single, is sent back and had put in a desperate dive to get back. Had it been a direct hit, he was a goner. Very good over, just one run.
Miraz continues. Three singles in that over.
Mustafizur Rahman into the attack. Another cracking drive past cover for four! A good over to end the PowerPlay.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz into the attack. Ravindra welcomes him with a late cut for four. And now Conway slaps the ball past point for another boundary.
Rana. Full on the pads and Conway flicks it away towards fine leg for four. Another four, this time Conway places it past the mid on fielder. Conway ends the over with another boundary towards cover.
Taskin. Terrific cover drive by Ravindra for four! Another cracking backfoot punch in the same region by Ravindra for another boundary.
Rana again. He’s right on the money so far. Good pace as well as a bit of lateral movement.
Taskin from around the wicket. Good over so far working around the off stump. Maiden over.
Rana. OUT! Williamson is gone. He went for the cover drive, gets a faint edge straigth to keeper. Rana’s first scalp in Champions Trophy.
Rachin Ravindra in at four. Full on the pads and Ravindra flicks towards square leg for four.
Taskin. Overpitch and Conway drives towards extra cover for four! Back-to-back boundaries. Conway pierces the gap between point and cover point for four.
Nahid Rana from the other end. Getting the ball to shape away from the left hander. Full toss and Conway drives. Good fielding inside circle cuts it down to just a single. Kane Williamson, the new batter, gets an outside edge and it goes past slip for four.
Taskin Ahmed with the new ball. Will Young on strike, Devon Conway at the other end. He’s getting the new ball to move away from the right hander. OUT! Young is cleaned up off the last delivery. Ball held its line and went through the gate to crash into the off stump.
WICKET! Taskin tries to hit Jamieson down the ground but holes out to long on.

Mustafizur Rahman off the mark with an edge to third man. Taskin gets an under edge to short third for another single. A single to finish the over.
Jamieson for his eighth over. Eight from the Jamieson over but there’s no boundary off it. Taskin is hurried on by a bouncer, his pull gets a top edge which falls just out of reach of Jamieson.
O’Rourke’s over starts with five wides. A single to short third on the next. FOUR! Taskin joins the party, clears his front leg and whacks this over mid off. Three dots to finish the over.
The innings 45th over is a maiden from O’Rourke.
Jaker starts Henry’s over with a punch through covers for two. SIX! Jaker shuffles across and deposits the fourth delivery over mid wicket. Ends the over with a single.
WICKET! Henry gets Rishad. He wants to hit across the line from outside off, gives a top edge to mid off.

Santner for his final over. Just three singles. Santner tosses deliveries wide of off, forcing Rishad to generate power while also reaching for the ball. Effective in keeping the slogs silent.
Henry again. Rishad punches to third man for a single. Jaker guides the second to deep third, one run. Rishad swipes over covers for two. FOUR! On the up to Rishad and he edges this on purpose past the keeper. The fifth is a full toss, lands just short of mid off. A single on the final delivery to deep cover.
SIX! Rishad is given one in the slot to free his levers, sends this over long on. Twelve runs from this over from Santner.
Rishad Hossain finished Matt Henry’s over with a down the ground four. Bangladesh will be eyeing anything close to 220 to give itself a chance.
OUT! Bangladesh decides to up the ante and pays the price for it as Shanto mistimes his pull and gets caught inside the circle. O’ Rourke with the breakthrough as this partnership was looking good now.
O’ Rourke is back. Shanto drives a full length ball straight back past the bowler for four! Good comeback by Rourke as only seven runs came in that over.
Glenn Phillips into the attack. Jaker and Shanto take three singles in that over.
Three runs each from the last two overs from Jamieson and Santner. The Bangladesh batters struggling to break the shackles.
Santner for his sixth. Jaker picks a quick single to backward square leg. Shanto pulls the last ball to deep square, gets one.
The batters picks runs through the gaps in the deep. Jamieson tries a bouncer to Jaker which is given a wide as it flies way over the batter’s head. Shanto drives down the ground but Jamieson gets a hand to it. Had this hit the stumps at non-striker’s end, it would have been the end of Jaker. Seven from it.
Santner to Shanto, clips through square leg off his front foot, one run. Jaker gets a top edge off an attempted sweep which lands just short of the diving man at short fine leg. One run off that. Shanto with another single through deep mid wicket. A wide makes it four from the over.
Jamieson back to bowl his fifth. He starts with a wide down leg. But keeps it to only three singles in the over.
FOUR! Jaker Ali with a sweep off Santner. That’s the only scoring shot in the over.
Another WICKET! Bracwell has his fourth. Mahmudullah steps down the ground and wants to heave this over mid wicket, hands a leading edge to short third.

RAHIM IS OUT! There was a trap set for him and Rahim gives in. He goes for a slog sweep against Bracewell and holes out to deep midwicket.

Mitchell Santner to bowl now. He skids on to Shanto’s pads right away but the appeal is denied by umpire Raza. This was probably going too high. A wide and a single on the next ball. Shanto clips the second through the on side for one. Rahim goes into his crease to run the third away through square leg and get one. Six runs in all in this over.
WICKET! A second wicket for Bracewell. Hridoy tries to go over covers against the turn, ends up slicing it high. Kane Williamson charges back from extra covers and grabs this catch.

O’Rourke to Shanto, FOUR! Stands tall and swats this down the ground. He moves to 45 with that shot. A leg bye on the second delivery. Hridoy punches the final delivery to deep cover for one.
Finally some runs against Bracewell. FOUR! Shanto goes for a sweep but gets a top edge through fine leg. O’Rourke is placed at the position but he is pretty square to get to it. Eight runs from the over.
O’Rourke starts with the over with a wide. Hridoy guides the third to third man for one run. One run from the previous over from Bracewell.
Shanto nudges O’Rourke’s delivery outside off to third man, one run. Hridoy with a late cut to third man, gets one. A bouncer in this over for Shanto, who sways out of the ball’s line.

O’Rourke to continue. He starts with a couple of wides against the left-handed Shanto. On the pads to the leftie, who picks a leg-bye. Mehidy nearly chops onto his stumps. GONE! Mehidy tries to pick this up over mid wicket, but the bat turns in his hands and he holes out to mid on.

Spin has been introduced, Michael Bracewell into the attack. OUT! Tanzid is caught. Tries to slog toward midwicket but is caught by the fielder inside the circle. He falls for 24.
Mehidy Hasan Miraz in at three. SIX! Miraz is off the mark with a huge one over the bowler’s head.
Jamieson. Shanto comes down the track and cuts the ball over point. The fielder in the deep third region dives to stop the ball; he does well but isn’t able to clear in the ball in time. Four more! Length ball pulled away towards midwicket. Third boundary of the over, this time the pull was placed towards square leg.
Henry. SIX! Short ball and Tanzid pulls it in front of square. Very good shot by the left-hander. Tanzid is looking really good so far; has been proactive and played a few very nice shots.
Jamieson. Terrific bowling by Jamieson, beats Shanto’s outside edge on back-to-back deliveries. Continues to attack the stumps and bowls a maiden.
Henry. Tanzid comes down the track and drives through the covers. A good chase cuts it down to three runs. Full delivery and Shanto drives past mid on to get a four. Shanto comes down the track, Henry pulls his length back and beats him.
Jamieson. A much better over by Jamieson so far. He’s extracting extra bounce off the surface as well due to his height.
Henry again. Tight lines by Henry, isn’t allowing any room to free the arms. Just one run from the over.
Kyle Jamieson from the other end. Tanzid ties to pull but the ball goes towards mid on; lucky it fell short of the fielder. This time on the thigh pad and Tanzid places it towards square leg for four. SIX! Terrific shot. Length ball and Tanzid slaps it away towards midwicket.
Matt Henry with the new ball. Tanzid tucks the ball towards square leg and runs a double off the first ball. An appeal for LBW against Shanto, umpire says not out. New Zealand has reviewed after discussion. Pitching outside leg, New Zealand loses a review.
