AFG vs ENG: Ibrahim Zadran records highest score by a batter in ICC Champions Trophy

Afghanistan batter Ibrahim Zadran on Wednesday registered the highest score by a batter in an ICC Champions Trophy match, during his side’s match against England in Lahore.

Zadran scored 177 runs off 146 deliveries, hitting 12 boundaries and six maximums. He overtook England’s Ben Duckett to the record, who had scored 165 runs against Australia earlier in this tournament.

This was also the highest score by an Afghan batter in One-Day Internationals. Zadran moved past his own score of 162 runs, which he scored against Sri Lanka in 2022.

Zadran was also the first Afghanistan batter to score a century in an ICC tournament, when he had hit 129 runs against Australia during the ODI World Cup in 2023.

The 23-year-old’s knock got Afghanistan to 325/7, the side’s highest total in an ICC tournament match.
