Eighth edition of Sports literary festival PlayWrite opens Sunday

The eighth edition of the sports literary festival, PlayWrite, opens on Sunday at the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).

Noted sports personalities including Olympian hockey player Col. Balbir Singh, Pravin Thipsay, the first Indian chess player holding the Grandmaster title, and women sports achievers, shall interact with sports enthusiasts in seven power-packed sessions. 

The event will also see the presence of two world-famous sports journalists and broadcasters Dr. Narottam Puri and Padma Shri recipient Ravi Chaturvedi who have covered tournaments across the globe. 

Hockey legend Col. Balbir Singh will share the legacy of Sansarpur, where he was born. The village has gone on to produce 14 hockey players who have represented India at the Olympics.

Thipsay alongside Arvinder Preet Singh, World Amateur Chess Champion and a coach, would talk about the young Indian chess players who are making a mark in the world arena. 

The session on evolution of Women’s Sport in India shall feature young athlete Shireen Ahluwalia, pickleball player Gurleen Singh, and cricketer Pragya Rawat.
