ISL 2024-25: East Bengal eyes a win against Bengaluru FC to keep playoff hopes alive

East Bengal will seek to preserve its winning momentum when it hosts Bengaluru FC at the Salt Lake Stadium here on Sunday. The match is significant for both teams, who require the points to realise their respective objectives.

Bengaluru will look for a positive result to secure the third spot, where it is currently placed with 37 points from 22 matches. On the other hand, East Bengal needs a win to preserve its hopes of breaking into the top six and ensuring its maiden qualification to the playoffs.

East Bengal is presently occupying the eighth place in the table, with 27 points from 22 matches, and needs to win its next two outings to stand a chance of qualification.

Having secured three successive wins in its previous outings, East Bengal is enjoying its best form in ISL history and will try to extend that with full points at home.

Bengaluru FC is also on a three-match winning run and will be trying to ensure a league double having beaten East Bengal 1-0 in the reverse fixture back in September.

East Bengal and Bengaluru have won four games each in their nine meetings so far while only one match has produced a draw.
