Jay Shah wins Sportstar Aces Game Changer award

Jay Shah, newly appointed ICC Chairman, was honoured with the Special Recognition Game Changer award at the Sportstar Aces Awards 2025 in Mumbai, recognising his transformative contributions to Indian cricket and the sport globally. “I dedicate this award to all the women working hard on the field,” Shah said after receiving the award from Viswanathan Anand, five-time World chess champion and Aces jury member.

Shah, who began his journey in cricket administration in 2009 with the Gujarat Cricket Association, played a pivotal role in the development of the world’s largest cricket stadium in Ahmedabad.

In 2019, he became the youngest-ever Honourary Secretary of the BCCI, spearheading key reforms and landmark initiatives that shaped Indian and international cricket.

Under his leadership, the Indian Premier League (IPL) secured a record-breaking media rights deal, making it the second most valued sporting league globally in per-match value. He also played a crucial role in the formation of the Women’s Premier League (WPL), which has revolutionised women’s cricket.

As part of the ICC Olympics Working Group, Shah was instrumental in cricket’s return to the Olympics, beginning with the Los Angeles 2028 Games. His tenure also saw the introduction of the Pay Parity Policy, ensuring equal match fees for India’s men and women cricketers, and a 300-700% increase in prize money for domestic tournaments.

Shah’s visionary leadership and reforms have solidified his place as one of the most influential administrators in cricket today.
