Real Madrid vs Atletico Madrid: Who is the referee in RMA v ATM in Champions League round of 16?

Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid clash in the crucial UEFA Champions League 2024-25 round-of-16 match at the Santiago Bernabeu in Madrid, Spain on Wednesday (IST).

Two of the top three teams in La Liga 2024-25 standings will go into the match under a cloud of refereeing controversy after the appointment of the match officials added scrutiny to an already high-stakes clash in the league.

French referee Clement Turpin will be in charge of the big clash and will be joined by fellow countrymen Nicolas Danos and Benjamin Pages.

The 42-year-old Frenchman became a referee in UEFA club competitions from the 2010–11 UEFA Europa League.

Turpin was selected by UEFA to officiate the 2021-22 UEFA Champions League final between Liverpool and Real Madrid.

The referee also has a India connection when he officiated in the 2017 FIFA U-17 men’s World Cup, which was held in India.

Ricardo de Burgos Bengoetxea will be in charge of VAR.
