WPL 2025: Why is UP Warriorz wearing a pink jersey against Royal Challengers Bengaluru?
UP Warriorz commemorated International Women’s Day by wearing a special pink jersey on Saturday during its Women’s Premier League match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.
To mark the occasion, former India international and broadcaster Anjum Chopra presented pink roses to captains Deepti Sharma and Smriti Mandhana at the coin toss.
“This #WarriorzPink is more than a jersey, it’s a tribute to strength and valour!” the franchise said in an Instagram post on March 8.
While UP Warriorz has already bowed out of playoffs contention after suffering consecutive losses, it could harm the defending champion’s chances with a win on the final matchday in the Lucknow leg.
