Vincius Jr. makes a run in the inside channel, gets a through pass from Modric, but his shot goes inches off-target. Ancelotti puffs out his cheeks as he thought another Madrid goal was imminent.

Mbappe gets a through ball along the right flank, beating Espino. However, Espino wins the duel in the box, taking the ball back in the 11th hour.

Mbappe gets the ball from Bellingham and as he tries to set up Vinicius on the far post, Vallecano makes a crucial block.

Tchouameni draws the defenders towards him and then delivers a through ball for Vinicius, who runs into the Vallecano box. Though he fails to get a shot on target, the goal, if it happened, would not have counted as the Brazilian was off-side.

Vallecano switches play from right to left and as Tchouameni tries to get the ball, Gumbau fouls him with a harsh challenge to get into the book. 

Real Madrid, which started in a 4-3-3 shape, looks to have shifted to a 4-4-2 one as it tries to put more firepower past the hour mark, looking to widen the lead and get level on points with leader Barcelona.

The match looks to have slowed down a little from the tempo in the beginning, with most of the ball in the midfield. However, Real Madrid has been the dominant side, asking questions to the opposition defence on regular intervals.

Modric takes a quick free-kick for Real Madrid and Mbappe runs into the final third with the ball, he beats the defence to take a shot, which is inches off-target. Batalla is furious with his team’s defence but Real missed a golden chance to widen the lead this time.

Ratiju gets the ball in Madrid’s half but Bellingham wins the ball with a good challenge and as Vinicius tries to get to the ball, he is fouled by the opponents.

Vallecano gets the ball and tries to stick an attack together with straight and diagonal passes in the midfield and Diaz finally gets to the ball, who passes to Embarba. But Embarba concedes a foul and the free-kick ends that attack by the visitors .

Real Madrid is dominating the attack completely at the moment as the ball is staying entirely in the Vallecano half. Meanwhile, Vinicius tries to go for another run but is dispossessed of the ball in the penalty box.

Madrid gets the ball rolling and goes for goal right away, with Rodrygo, Bellingham and Mbappe combining. But the ball goes out play for a goal kick, putting the attack to bed.

Both teams get back on the field as Vallecano hopes to deny Madrid a win for the fourth time in a row. It has already got a goal and will hope to double it sooner rather than later.

Real Madrid looks to be worried dur to an injury blow as Rodrygo goes to the ground in pain. There was no challenge at all but the Brazilian slipped and fell while trying to run with the ball. He is assisted by the medical team as he gets back on his feet

Vallecano is maintaining a man-to-man marking, putting in a high press as it tries to steal the ball off the hosts to attack on the counter, in Madrid’s half.

Pedro Diaz tries to pull a goal back for the visitors but his first attempt is blocked and the second goes off-target. Real Madrid is running away with the game here.

Vallecano is finding it very difficult to break into the Madrid box and tries a lofted cross which is caught comfortably by Lunin as he gets the ball back into play.

Vinicius runs down the left flank and then cuts to his right, makes a step-over, shift to his right then left and then shoots past the ‘keeper to double the lead.

Embarba gets the ball in front of the box and takes a shot from distance. Lunin does well to make a good save, keeping his side’s slender lead intact.

Vinicius threads in a through ball for Mbappe, who marauds into the final third with the ball as his marker follows him in the box. Mbappe drops his shoulder to his right and the shoots with his right foot into the net. 

Vallecano attacks on the counter and they get the ball into the final third. Ratiu takes the shot, which is on target, forcing Lunin to make a good save and them Gumbau takes a shot on target that is blocked by Asencio.

Vinicius gets the ball from Mbappe along the left but he is surrounded by three markers, forcing him to get the ball back.

Vallecano gets a corner kick. But the final ball, to Embarba is final stolen by the Madrid players as they try to go for another counterattack.

The front three of Real Madrid have been the usual suspects so far, creating all sorts of problems for the visitors, but their defence, with some help from the woodwork, has kept the score locked at 0-0. 

Bellingham gets the ball along the left and threads a through ball for Vinicius, with Bellingham as cover. But the linesman has the flag raised.

Alaba tries to beat the marking but is stopped in his tracks ad he passes it back to Modric and now Mbappe tries an overlapping run on the right flank.

Vallecano tries to go for a long ball approach but Real Madrid gets to the end of it to turn the course of attack. Rodrygo gets the ball along the right flank and crosses for someone in the centre.

No one receives it and then Vinicius shoots, only to be denied by the woodwork. Mbappe shoots on the follow up and Batalla makes a save this time.

This was the best chance of the game so far.

Batalla gets the ball but struggles to control it fully as Vinicius presses him up the pitch. He somehow manages to ward the danger off as he clears the ball out.

Real Madrid has men in numbers in the final third as Vallecano tries to get its act together with back-passes and a small build-up. 

Real Madrid tries an attack along the left flank, with Vinicius carrying the ball into the box. He crosses to the centre but Espino turns it away. Seconds later, a cross to Rodrygo is blocked and the ball goes out for a corner. 

Real Madrid is dominating possession at 66 per cent at the moment, with a formation of 4-3-3. The front-three remain Vinicius, Rodrygo and Kylian Mbappe.

Real Madrid tries another attack, with Bellingham beating his marker and shifting to the left flank but he loses the ball as Vallecano tries to go for an attack, which is sliced out of danger by Lunin.

Carlo Ancelotti’s side suffered a dent in its La Liga defence when it lost to 1-2 Real Betis, earlier this month. However, it beat Atletico Madrid in its next game, in the Champions League, and will look to ride on the same momentum against Vallecano.

Though Madrid has beaten Vallecano 14 times in the last 19 matches, the previous three clashes between the sides have ended in draws. In Vallecano’s home game this season, on December 15, 2024, Isi Palazón’s equaliser held the La Liga champion to a 3-3 draw.
