IPL 2025 rule update: How player replacements work and what’s changed this season

The IPL season hasn’t started yet, but several player replacements have already been confirmed. Here’s all you need to know about the new replacement rule.

Teams can now replace unavailable players until their 12th league match (previously 7th).

Only from the Registered Available Player Pool (RAPP) — players who went unsold at the auction.

Cannot exceed the original player’s auction price.

RAPP players signed as net bowlers can be picked by any team as a replacement.

KKR: Chetan Sakariya in for Umran Malik

MI: Mujeeb Ur Rahman for Allah Ghazanfar, Corbin Bosch for Lizaad Williams

SRH: Wiaan Mulder for Brydon Carse

Bosch signing sparks controversy due to his PSL contract — legal action possible.
