SAFF U-19 Championship 2025: India announces squad, Pakistan misses out after FIFA suspension
The Indian team arrived in Arunachal Pradesh for the SAFF U-19 Championship 2025, a tournament which will not see the Pakistan side participating in the age-group event.
The Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) was banned by FIFA in February for the body’s failure to adopt a revision of the PFF Constitution. This suspension resulted in Pakistan not being able to send a squad for the SAFF tournament, despite the ban being lifted by FIFA on March 3.
In the 2023 edition, Pakistan ended the tournament as runner-up after losing to India 0-3 in the final.
Host India will face Sri Lanka (May 9) and Nepal (May 13) in Group B. Maldives, Bhutan, and Bangladesh are in Group A. The top two teams from each group will qualify for the semifinals that will be played on May 16. The final will take place on May 18.
