Karun Nair makes Test comeback! Included in India squad for England after 8 years
Karun Nair has returned to the India Test squad for the five-match series against England, beginning June 20.
Nair last played for India in 2017, in a Test against Australia in Dharamsala. He has featured in six Tests, scoring 374 runs at an impressive average of 67. Notably, he became only the second Indian batter after Virender Sehwag to score a Test triple century.
After moving from Karnataka to Vidarbha for the 2023–24 domestic season, Nair revived his career with a prolific run. In the 2024–25 season, he amassed 863 runs in nine matches at an average of 54, helping Vidarbha clinch its third Ranji Trophy title.
In his first season with Vidarbha, he scored 690 runs in 10 games.
His good domestic run saw him return to the Indian Premier League (IPL) after three years, this season.
Nair’s social media post, “Cricket, please give me another chance,” went viral and underscored his determination to return to the national side.
Before his recall, Nair was named in the India A squad for the series against England Lions, a precursor to the senior series.
