Durand Cup 2025 to be played between July 22 and August 23 across six venues

The 2025 edition of Durand Cup, Asia’s oldest football tournament, will be played across five states between July 23 to August 23, the competition’s organisers announced on Sunday.

Six venues across West Bengal, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya and Jharkhand have been finalised for the tournament.

North East United FC is the defending champion, having overcome maximum title-holder Mohun Bagan Super Giant, in a thrilling final last year to get its historic maiden title.

Imphal returned as a venue for the tournament after two years while Kokrajhar will be a host for the third consecutive year. Jamshedpur in Jharkhand and Shillong in Meghalaya were added as hosts last year.

The century-old tournament shifted its home base to Kolkata from Delhi back in 2019, and will also continue to hold that status for a sixth consecutive edition.

Organised by the Eastern Command of the Indian Army on behalf of the three Services, the tournament pits Services teams against India’s best football clubs and over the past couple of editions, has also seen foreign participation with Army teams from neighbouring nations.
