IPL 2025 Playoffs scenarios: What do GT, PBKS, RCB and MI need to finish in top two?

Gujarat Titans’ loss to Chennai Super Kings on Sunday left the door open for the other three teams (assured of making the Playoffs) to seal a spot in the top two in the Indian Premier League 2025.

The top two teams will play the Qualifier 1 and get two chances to reach the final. The team finishing third and fourth will face off in the Eliminator and the loser of that match will get eliminated.

Even though GT is first in the points table after its loss to CSK, it’s fate depends on other results. Punjab Kings takes on Mumbai Indians on Monday while Royal Challengers Bengaluru faces Lucknow Super Giants on Tuesday.

Here is how the points table looks ahead of these games.

Punjab Kings has 17 points, and if it beats Mumbai Indians in its final match, it will finish in the top two. If it loses that match, it will play the Eliminator.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru also has 17 points and is currently third in the points table. The Rajat Patidar-led side needs a win to secure a top-two finish.

If RCB and PBKS win their games, they will finish in the top two.

Mumbai Indians will finish in the top two if it beats Punjab Kings in its final group-stage fixture on Monday with 18 points.

Gujarat Titans needs other results to go its way to finish in the top two. Shubman Gill’s team needs both RCB and PBKS to lose. In that case, GT and MI will finish in the top two.
