Former Arsenal and Barcelona star Alexis Sanchez seals Sevilla switch
Former Arsenal and Barcelona forward Alexis Sanchez has joined Sevilla from Udinese, the Spanish club announced on Monday.
The move was confirmed just hours after Udinese revealed that the 36-year-old Chilean had left the Serie A club by mutual consent.
After a career spent at “a good part of the most important clubs in the football panorama,” Sanchez will “bring his experience and goal-scoring sense” to Sevilla, the La Liga side said.
Sanchez, who also represented Manchester United, Inter Milan and Marseille, had returned to Udinese for a second spell last year.
“Udinese and Alexis Sanchez’s paths are separating here. The club and the white and blacks legend have reached an agreement to end his contract,” Udinese said in a statement.
“Alexis will always remain our ‘Amazing Kid’,” the club added, in reference to his nickname.
Sanchez first joined Udinese in 2008 as a teenager from South America. He went on to win La Liga with Barcelona in 2013, Serie A with Inter Milan in 2021 and 2024, and the FA Cup with Arsenal in 2015 and 2017.
The highlight of his career remains leading Chile to consecutive Copa America triumphs in 2015 and 2016, both against Lionel Messi’s Argentina.
Over his career, Sanchez has scored 220 goals in 796 club appearances.
