Jagadeesan falls three runs short of double hundred in Duleep Trophy
Tamil Nadu wicketkeeper-batter N. Jagadeesan on Friday fell just three runs short of a double century for South Zone in its Duleep Trophy semifinal against North Zone at the BCCI Centre of Excellence.
The 29-year-old was run out on 197 on the second day, with Ricky Bhui at the other end.
A double ton would have been Jagadeesan’s third in First-Class cricket. His highest score remains 321, scored against Chandigarh in the Ranji Trophy in 2024. Only 10 batters have struck double centuries for South Zone so far.
Jagadeesan, however, continued his purple patch with this innings. He had amassed 674 runs in 13 innings in the Ranji Trophy last season at an average of 56, including two centuries and five half-centuries.
His prolific form also earned him a call-up to the Indian team as a replacement for Rishabh Pant for the fifth Test on the England tour.
