CHAMPIONS – India beats Korea 4-1 to lift the 2025 Hockey Asia Cup final and bag an assured spot in the Hockey World Cup.
South Korea gets a penalty corner but wastes it as the drag flick following the injection hits first rusher Amit Rohidas above the knee.
Sanjay goes for a shot from the edge of the circle but fails to hit the target.
Goal (Son Dain) – Korea pulls one back as Son Dain scores from a penalty corner. The Indian defence fails to clear the ball and Dain dives in to get the decisive touch.
Goal (Amit Rohidas) – India finally scores from its first penalty corner as Amir Rohidas gets to the end of the injection and finds the bottom-left corner with his shot.
India is enjoying the lion’s share of possession with 54 per cent of the ball. It has undoubtedly been the more dominant team in this final against the defending champion.
India leads Korea 3-0 as the fourth quarter starts. Barring a major collapse, India will lift the Asia Cup trophy.

Goal (Dilpreet Singh) – Harmanpreet sends the ball inside the circle and Rajinder gets the minutest of touches to send the ball Dilpreet’s way who does to find the net with a first-time finish.
India gets a penalty corner after Abhishek’s shot inside the circle is blocked by the foot of Lee Hyeseung.
India does well to defend back-to-back Korea penalty corners. India launches its own counter-attack with Sukhjeet leading the charge, but fails to make an impact as he ends up conceding a foul.
Choi Chankyu goes on a talismanic run, beating Jarmanpreet and making his way inside the circle. The Korean players flood the Indian circle to find a scoring chance butb Vivek does well to get the ball past safety.
Abhishek shoots on the turn from inside the circle, which is saved by the Korean keeper. The rebound falls to Dilpreet who puts the ball inside the net but the goal won’t count because the referee had already stopped play due to a backstick offence by India.
Cheoleon Park goes on an excellent run and looks to find a teammate in the middle with a cutback but Vivek Sagar Prasad reaches in time to put pressure on the Korea No 7 and spot him from getting a pass away.
India leads 2-0 as the third quarter gets underway!
Goals from Dilpreet and Sukhjeet keep India in a 2-0 lead against Korea at half time of the 2025 Asia Cup final.
Sanjay has to sit out for two minutes as he sees a green card – India’s second of the match.
Goal (Dilpreet Singh) – Sanjay expertly brings down a long ball and then sends the ball to the middle, finding Dilpreet. Dilpreet, despite being under pressure, shoots hard and low at the near post to score India’s second.
’It is turning out to be a pretty dull quarter compared to the first one. The Koreans also look more settled, and India cannot make inroads as easily as it was in the first 15. However, the Koreans are also not being able to create any major scoring chances.
A penalty corner for India and another good chance for the home side to increase its lead. However, Korea has gone for a referral, citing dangerous play by Rajinder Singh, who won the PC.
Korea keeps its referral and the PC is overturned.
Jugraj Singh, who missed his penalty stroke, will now have to sit out for two minutes after getting a green card. He is not having the best of nights.

Sukhjeet Singh’s goal after 30 seconds keeps India in a 1-0 lead against Korea at the end of the first quarter!
Sukhjeet has been India’s best player in the first quarter, and he shows another bit of brilliance as he finds a teammate in a tight space. Eventually, the attack ends after a shot at goal is off target.
Saved – Jugraj Singh takes the penalty stroke and goes to the keeper’s right but the Korea keeper guesses right and makes a good save. India wastes a brilliant chance to double lead.
Penalty stroke – India gets a penalty stroke, and it is an excellent chance to double its lead. Jugraj was impeded from taking a shot.
Rajkumar Pal expertly controls an aerial diagonal on the right. He looks to cut inside the circle and get a shot away at the near post but is crowded out and ends up losing the ball.
That goal has given all the confidence to India, and Craig Fulton’s men want to make use of this momentum and score another and that is evident as the entire team to pushing up the pitch to put the Korean defence under pressure.
Goal (Sukhjeet Singh) – Talk about a brilliant start in the final! Sukhjeet scores within 31 seconds to give India an early lead. India’s attack pushes Korea into its own circle. Sukhjeet gets the ball inside the circle and goes for the reverse shot. The connection is brilliant and he finds the far corner.
The Hockey Asia Cup 2025 final between India and Korea is underway at the Bihar Sports University Hockey Stadium in Rajgir.
