Release excitement: Vijay Sethupathi’s blockbuster film flies high transcending borders!

Tamil cinema is making waves internationally once again, with Vijay Sethupathi’s blockbuster “Maharaja” set to release in China-a rare achievement for a Tamil film. Joining the ranks of big releases like Rajinikanth’s “2.0” and Sivakarthikeyan’s “Kanaa”, “Maharaja” will premiere in China on November 29, following its massive success in India.

Directed by Nithilan Swaminathan, “Maharaja” captivated Indian audiences when it was released in June, becoming a sleeper hit that grossed ₹110 crore on a modest ₹20 crore budget. The rustic mystery thriller, lauded for its intense storyline and Sethupathi’s gripping performance, has continued to amass fans worldwide, and the buzz for its China release is only growing.

The recently unveiled poster for the “Maharaja” Chinese debut has gone viral, signalling strong anticipation. Reports indicate the film’s theatrical rights in China sold for an impressive ₹10 crores. Additionally, Bollywood icon Aamir Khan has acquired the Hindi remake rights, with plans to step into Sethupathi’s role, a testament to the film’s powerful appeal.

With a star-studded cast including Anurag Kashyap, Mamta Mohandas, Natarajan Subramaniam, Abhirami, and Sachana, along with music by B. Ajaneesh Loknath, “Maharaja” is poised to make an impact on Chinese audiences. Following its success on Netflix, fans and industry insiders alike are eager to see how the film will fare in this new market, as it marks a significant milestone in Tamil cinema’s global journey.
