Dan Ashworth leaves office as sporting director of Manchester United
Dan Ashworth has left the office of sporting director at Manchester United within five month taking charge, according to multiple reports from the United Kingdom.
Ashworth was formerly the sporting director of Newcastle United, with the Magpies playing in the Champions League after 20 years, last season.
After completing his gardening leave, he joined the Red Devils in what was touted as a shift in style of operations under new co-owner Jim Ratcliffe, who had taken over, earlier in 2024.
According to the report by The Athletic, the decision to part way with Ashworth was made after a meeting with Omar Berrada, the new chief executive at the club.
Ashworth has over two decades of off-field experience over several categories in football, having served as the technical and sporting director of West Bromwich Albion in 2007. He has since served as the sporting director of Brighton and Hove Albion and Newcastle before moving to Manchester.
