IND vs AUS, 2nd Test: Head took the game out of India’s hands within a session or so, says Cummins

Satisfaction over a job well done was evident when Pat Cummins spoke to the media at the Adelaide Oval here on Sunday. After securing a 10-wicket triumph against India in the second Test, the Australian captain said: “It is great to level the series. I think this week we are back to our best.”

About his five-for in the Indian second innings, the speedster said: “I was pretty pumped up. It probably felt like some big wickets in the context of the match. I was pretty excited, more so than normal.”

Cummins was equally quick to praise his pace-mates: “It was a herculean effort from (Mitchell) Starc and Scotty (Boland) on the first day. It was hot, close to 40 degrees, it was a huge effort from these guys.”

Just like his rival counterpart Rohit Sharma, Cummins too played down the incident involving Travis Head and Mohammed Siraj: “It is heated, it is a big series, it has been packed with crowds on all days and so there is a lot riding on it. I think the umpire stepped in pretty quickly and that was the end of it.”

Effusive over Head, Cummins quipped: “Every time he walks out, the game is kind of in the balance and within the space of a session or so, he really took the game out of their hands. He is super impressive.”

The Australian captain also lauded his Sunrisers Hyderabad team-mate Nitish Kumar: “He is a really good player, adapts well. He has some pretty awesome ramp shots and pulls and drives. He is a 360 degree player and he had another pretty good game.”
