Jyothi Surekha claims second Indoor Archery World Series gold medal

Jyothi Surekha Vennam claimed her second victory at the Indoor Archery World Series at Taipei Archery Open, defeating Chen Yu-Ju of Taipei 144-140 in the final.

The 28-year-old Vijayawada-based archer, who has won multiple World Cup medals and is a three-time Asian Games gold medallist, scored 592/600 in the ranking round to secure the top position.

Ankita Bhakat and Prathamesh Fuge were the other Indian archers who won medals in the women’s recurve and men’s compound categories, respectively.

Prathamesh (147-144) won against Kim Jongho of South Korea in the bronze medal match on his debut at the Indoor Archery World Series.

On the other hand, Ankita defeated South Korea’s Lee Yunji 6-2 to win India’s third bronze of the day.
