I-League 2024-25 wrap: First hat-trick of the season courtesy Namdhari’s Degol; Shillong Lajong rains goals on Rajasthan United
Namdhari FC’s first win of this season had Brazilian flair written all over it as Shillong Lajong rained fire on Rajasthan United on Sunday.
Here’s what happened in the I-League 2024-25 on December 8:
Namdhari FC registered its first win of the season, and also condemned Aizawl to a first defeat with a 3-1 victory in its Round 4 match of the I-League 2024-25 at the Namdhari Stadium.
Namdhari’s Brazilian striker Cledson ‘Degol’ DaSilva (14’, 23’, 71’) scored the hat-trick that saw his side get its first victory of the season. Lalhriatpuia (86’) scored the only goal for Aizawl. With this win, Namdhari climb to the eighth spot on the I-League table with four points from as many matches, just one behind Aizawl.
None of Namdhari’s players had scored a goal in the season yet — the club’s lone goal an own goal against Rajasthan United — and here, from the start there was a hunger to get the scoreboard ticking.
Shillong Lajong notched up its biggest win in the I-League after it rammed through Rajasthan United 8-0 at the SSA Ground No. 1.
For Lajong, Figo Syndai (3’), Douglas Tardin (17’, 51’), Daniel Goncalves (45+3’), Imanol Sadaba (66’), and Hardy Nongbri (87’) netted as Rajasthan’s Lunkim Khongsai and Martand Raina put the ball into their own net to add to their misery.
With this drubbing, Rajasthan United now sits in 11th with three points as Shillong Lajong is placed eighth with five points,
