Sri Lanka was defeated 2-0 by South Africa in the Test Series, and Sri Lanka’s aspirations of reaching the World Cup Final have ended.

Second Test, Gqeberha
South Africa 358 (Verreyne 105*, Rickelton 101) & 317 (Bavuma 66; Jayasuriya 5-129)
Sri Lanka 328 (Nissanka 89; Paterson 5-71) & 238 (Dhananjaya 50; Maharaj 5-76)
South Africa won by 109 runs; win series 2-0

Except for Prabath Jayasuriya who was exceptionally good, Other Sri Lankan ballers performed admirably but fell short of the standards set by South African ballers. South African Phasers have dominated Sri Lankan Batters throughout the series. The Sri Lankan batting lineup was powerful, but they were unable to deal with the balling variations and great performances on the pitch by South Africans. For Sri Lankan cricket fans, it is again another disappointment, but there is hope for the team to progress with the Legendary Sanath Jayasuriya joining the young Lions. Anyway, a loss is a loss, and they should focus on improving their batting and phase balling skills.

After several promising starts, Sri Lankan batsmen are unable to continue facing South African ballers because they need to adjust their approach and thinking. Batsmen should be confident in their ability to stay in the crease for extended periods of time rather than play immoral shots in test matches.

Nothing more to say about the South Africans; they played the game with great class and confidence. Hopefully, they will be able to reach the WTC final.
