Rashford’s future at Man United: Amorim given full freedom to decide future of England forward
Manager Ruben Amorim has been given the freedom to decide on Marcus Rashford’s future at the club by the Manchester United management, led by co-owner Jim Ratcliffe, according to The Times.
For the past three matches across competitions, the England forward was not included in the matchday squad by Amorim. This began when Rashford and Argentine Alejandro Garnacho were dropped for the derby against Manchester City, with the Portuguese coach saying his decision was about holding his players to high standards.
In an interview with football writer Henry Winter while visiting his old school to hand out Christmas presents, Rashford said, “For me, personally, I think I’m ready for a new challenge and the next steps.”
“When I leave it’s going to be ‘no hard feelings’. You’re not going to have any negative comments from me about Manchester United. That’s me as a person. If I know that a situation is already bad I’m not going to make it worse. I’ve seen how other players have left in the past and I don’t want to be that person. When I leave I’ll make a statement and it will be from me,” he added.
When asked about this interview, Amorim said, “Of course, because this kind of club needs big talents and he’s a big talent. So, he just needs to perform at the highest level and that is my focus. I just want to help Marcus.”
Having been playing in the Premier League for the past nine seasons, Rashford has been at the club since his formative years and is a product of the famous United Academy.
