PKL: Gujarat Giants announces coach Ram Mehar Singh will not continue from next season

Gujarat Giants announced on Tuesday that coach Ram Mehar Singh will continue with the team from the upcoming season.

“An era comes to an end. Thank you, Coach Ram Mehar Singh, for building a team of Giants with passion and purpose,” said the team on social media platform.

Winner of the Arjuna Award, Singh started his coaching career in 2004 with the Indian Air Force team and the Services team after which he served as Deputy Sports Director of Haryana, where he oversaw all sports activities in Gurugram.

From 2009 to 2014, Ram Mehar coached the Indian Kabaddi Team, and his accolades include the Swabhiman Award, Bhim Award, and Best Sportsman Awards from both the Service, all in 2001, as well as the Best Sportsman Award of the Air Force in 1999.

In the Pro Kabaddi League, Singh guided the Patna Pirates to victory in the 5th season, having previously served as the assistant coach during their first championship win.
