Thangalaan Trailer: Chiyaan Vikram Looks Ferocious As A Tribal Leader Battling For Freedom In Pa Ranjith’s Tamil Historical Action Film – WATCH
Pa Ranjith‘s much-anticipated film has set pulses racing with its recently unveiled trailer, which promises a gripping narrative set against the backdrop of British colonial rule in India.
Starring Chiyaan Vikram in a commanding role as a fierce tribal leader, the 2-minute-9-second trailer offers a tantalising glimpse into the struggles and wins of its characters.
Released on Wednesday to eager fans, the trailer delves deep into the protagonist’s journey, portrayed by Vikram, who embodies the spirit of resistance and resilience. Vikram himself took to X (formerly Twitter) to share the trailer, declaring, “Witness the Son of Gold, mine through history with sacrifice, sweat and bloodshed.”
The narrative unfolds with Parvathy Thiruvothu’s character questioning Vikram’s inner turmoil, hinting at the psychological challenges he faces amidst the tumultuous events. The arrival of British officer Lord Clement, portrayed in the trailer, sets off a chain of events as he seeks to exploit the rich resources of the Kolar Gold Fields (KGF), with local villagers caught in the crossfire of greed and resistance.
Malavika Mohanan shines as Aarathi, a supposed sorceress who becomes a beacon of hope for her people, fiercely guarding their land against exploitation. The trailer culminates in a powerful visual of Vikram, adorned in gold dust and standing defiantly alongside his community, symbolising their united front against oppression.
Originally slated for release earlier this year, faced delays but is now set to hit screens on August 15, coinciding with a celebration of India’s independence.
The film’s teaser, released last November, offered a visceral glimpse into its gritty narrative, receiving acclaim for its raw portrayal of historical events.
promises to delve into the untold stories of KGF, highlighting how the region, once hailed as the ‘golden bird’ of India, fell victim to colonial exploitation. The film aims to shed light on the real-life struggles of the local populace who fought valiantly to protect their heritage and resources from foreign invaders.
The ensemble cast includes Parvathy Thiruvothu, Malavika Mohanan, Pasupathi, Muthukumar, Hari Krishnan, Preethi, Arjun Prabhakaran, and Hollywood actor Daniel Goldragon, each contributing to the film’s rich tapestry of characters.
Helmed by GV Prakash, whose evocative music sets the tone for the film, promises to captivate audiences across Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi-speaking regions.
