ISL 2024-25: Hyderabad hopes to find silver lining against Bruzon’s East Bengal
Hyderabad FC will look for a silver lining after five consecutive losses when it takes on East Bengal FC, in their Indian Super League (ISL) 2024-25 match, at the GMC Balayogi Stadium here on Saturday.
This will be the ninth ISL meeting between the two sides, with East Bengal FC aiming to continue its recent dominance over Hyderabad FC.
On the other hand, East Bengal won four of the five matches and is 11th on the points table, with 13 points from 12 matches, while HFC is 12th, with seven points from the same number of games as East Bengal.
For the record, HFC has conceded 25 goals in 12 matches this season, its second-highest tally at this stage of a campaign, only behind the 29 goals conceded in 2019-20.
East Bengal, in a way, should be in search of a hat-trick of wins having beaten Punjab FC and Jamshedpur FC in the last two games.
In the eight encounters between these two sides, Hyderabad FC won four matches, East Bengal triumphed twice, and two ended in a draw.
Hyderabad FC’s interim head coach Shameel Chembakath said that his team was driven to secure a long-awaited positive result in this encounter.
“I know the morale is not what we wanted it to be but the players are showing determination in the training by trying their best. It’s a home match, so we need to get three points and be more focused on a positive result,” he said.
For his part, East Bengal head coach Oscar Bruzon stressed the importance of winning tomorrow’s game to continue the team’s upward surge in the league.
“We have been discussing a lot about what we need to be doing in the last few games. This match is very important since we need to consolidate our position in the points table,” Bruzon said.
Match starts at 5.00 pm.
